Press Release - June 23, 1999
The data in the study covers a 21-month period from September 9, 1997 through June 19,1999 including over 2,000,000 Internet session data points. The data shows usage of Microsoft’s IE has remained consistent in recent months, reaching as high as 66.61%. Since the survey began, Netscape has lost over 8 points in market share.
Mr. Janulaitis said, “Based on analysis of recent data, it is clear that Microsoft’s IE product is clearly in the dominant position in market share and is not going to relinquish that position in the near future. Anyone designing web sites should definitely take notice”.
